Will Courteney Cox ring in a Happy New Year? Actress wears wedding band to festive bash... as estranged husband David Arquette parties in Hollywood

By Daily Mail Reporter

Not much Christmas cheer: Courteney Cox appears to be missing the Christmas spirit as she heads to a holiday party wearing her estranged husband David Arquette's wedding ring on her finger

Is Courteney Cox hoping for a New Year's reunion with her estranged husband David Arquette? The 46-year-old Cougar Town star was spotted heading to a Christmas Eve party in West Hollywood last night...wearing her wedding ring.
Cox removed the band from when the couple split back in October and this is the first time she's been seen out in public displaying the rock again.

However, Arquette may not be quite ready to kiss and make up. He was seen last night partying at the risqué Hollywood nightclub Voyeur, renowned for its semi-naked women hanging in nets from the ceiling.

After being pictured with her Cougar Town co-star Brian Van Holt at a party the night before, Cox turned up to last night's celebrations without a date.

Dressed in a plain back outfit with a white frilly shirt, the Friends actress brought her six-year-old daughter Coco as her 'plus one' instead.

While Coco happily skipped up to the front door of the private home, Cox looked decidedly glum and not as though she was in the mood to party.

Putting on a brave face: Courteney is doing her best to keep up the Christmas spirit for her six-year-old daughter Coco, but has always said that she hopes she and David will reunite

Cox and Arquette, 39, met on the set of the Scream movie in 1996. They were married for 11 years before splitting two months ago.

Arquette then went on Howard Stern's radio show and stated that the couple had not had sex for four months, and then added he had cheated on Cox with a waitress saying it made him feel "pretty manly."

While Cox has spent the last couple of months trying to remain low key about the split, Arquette has consistently been in the headlines with his partying, drinking and all-round bad behaviour.

Coco on the go: David has confessed that he 'pines' for Courteney and that he's signed all his Christmas cards from David, Courtney and Coco

In a recent appearance on the George Lopez television talk show, Arquette defended his behaviour, saying, 'That's my thing, I'm a fun-loving, great person.

'I refuse to let these magazines vilify me, make me a demon. I'm one of the best people you will ever meet. I've always been wild and crazy.'

However, last week Arquette was back on Howard Stern's show and confessed that he 'pines' for Cox 'once in a while,' and that he sent out his holiday presents and signed the cards, "David, Courteney and Coco."

When Stern asked Arquette if he was having a nervous breakdown over the split, Arquette replied: 'Absolutely.' He also said he's trying to give up drinking because he know when he does drink it turns him into 'a maniac.'

However, the following day he took to his Twitter account to backtrack on some of those comments. 'It is being reported that I'm having a Nervous Breakdown,' he tweeted. 'I assure you I am not. This stemmed from a joke I made.'

However, Arquette also tweeted that he had no intention of apologising for some of his other statements during the interview, including that he'd like to have a child with his ex - Drew Barrymore.

'I always speak my mind and I really don't care what people that don't know me may say,' he tweeted. 'I'm a good person with a huge heart. I thank those that have been on my side during this rough time.'

Yet despite Arquette's antics, Cox has always been hopeful that the two might reconcile, stating that their split is only a trial separation, which may explain why she's started wearing her wedding band again.

She recently told TV Week magazine: 'I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced.'

Torchwood star John Barrowman beats Fern Britton and Vince Cable to win Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

By Daily Mail Reporter

'It's about time she won!': Torchwood star John Barrowman and 'Kristina Rihanoff are crowned the winners of the Strictly Come Dancing 2010 Christmas special

Torchwood star John Barrowman was crowned the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special tonight.

The 43-year-old and partner Kristina Rihanoff gave an energetic and festive performance of the quickstep which thrilled the judges on the show which also included a guest performance from series ten winners Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev.

The former EastEnders star took to the stage with rugby player Gavin Henson, psychologist Pamela Stephenson and TV presenter Matt Baker.

Their performance came after Barrowman, dressed in a silver waist and matching waistcoat, won praise from the judges with Bruno Tonioli exclaiming, 'Do dazzlers come any more dazzling than John Barrowman! Is there anything you can't do?'

While an enthusiastic Len Goodman remarked, 'John, you jingled my bells. That was a great way to start the show.

But Craig Revel Horwood was slightly less than impressed by the performance.
'You did lose a bit of body contact and there was one kind of stumble moment,' he said.

Next to dance was impressionist Ronni Ancona will partner Anton du Beke who danced the Venetian Waltz.

Then Anconer, who was dressed in a stunning red and white ball gown, joked: 'I had to play them all' when she received a standing ovation from the crowd.

But the judges had a mixed reaction, with Alesha Dixon commenting that she 'was a little bit shaky at times and a little bit skippy' at times.

Revel Horwood offered the harshest criticism, 'You had a major balance issue throughout,' he said. 'The spins were a little bit of a disaster.'

However Goodman was full of praise, calling Anconer: 'An absolute Christmas cracker.'

Although he did remark that she looked like 'a duck on ice' at times.
Business Secretary Vince Cable and partner Erin Boag were third to dance, performing the foxtrot.

Cheek to cheek: EastEnder's veteran June Brown performed an elaborate Tango routine with Vincent Simone

Alesha Dixon on June and Vincent: 'Loved the nose to nose action. It was so funny and June, I just want to say you're an inspiration'

The judges couldn't resist a few digs about the government with Revel Horwood joking, 'You do have a tendency to lean slightly to the right.'

Goodman also joked: 'I'm happier than a banker counting his Christmas bonus.'

Dixon said that she was especially pleased with Cable as she had danced with him previously.

The MP seemed nervous throughout the judges comments and later compared the former Prime Minister to Revel Horwood, joking: 'Gordon Brown is a pussycat compared to him.'

Former This Morning presenter Fern Britton and Matthew Cutler were fourth on the dancefloor, performing the jive.

Britton looked stunning in a figure hugging peach costume and Tonioli was thrilled with her dance.

'You've got a really good sense of musicality and lovely legs,' he said.
'The kicks and flicks were a little lame,' said Revel Horwood.

'I thought you coped very well with all of those changes of rhythm.'

While Goodman said the dance was like a trifle, 'fruity up top and spongy on the bottom.'

EastEnder's veteran June Brown, who plays Dot Cotton in the BBC soap opera, performed an elaborate Tango routine with Vincent Simone.

'Loved the nose to nose action,' said Dixon. 'It was so funny and June, I just want to say you're an inspiration.'

But Revel Horwood pointed out that 'there wasn't a lot of dancing,' to the routine.

Host Tess Daly later praised June for being 'our most senior Strictly contender'. To which the 83-year-old joked, 'Will you stop it!'

Queen of chic: Her Majesty is a vision in fur as she leads Royal fashion parade at Christmas service

By Andy Whelan

Fur Queen and country: Her Majesty was all wrapped up as she attended the traditional Christmas service at Sandringham

At 84, no one would really expect the Queen to be a fashion icon.

But as she attended the traditional Christmas Day service at Sandringham, she was the picture of stylish elegance in co-ordinated fur hat and fur-trimmed coat.

The ‘Snow Queen’ look was completed with ultra-fashionable high-heeled boots, a chic white scarf and clasp, and black designer handbag.

She certainly turned heads among the 1,000 well-wishers who had gathered on the Norfolk estate, while her look also seemed to inspire the Duchess of Cornwall, who attended the service at St Mary Magdalene Church in similar Dr Zhivago-style headgear – but a much bigger version.

The Royal party also included the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, the Duke of York and his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Observers say they could not remember so few Royals attending the Christmas Day service.

Princess Anne was notably absent, although her son Peter Phillips and wife Autumn are expecting their baby – the Queen’s first great-grandchild – any day now. Buckingham Palace also announced the engagement this week of Peter’s sister, Zara, to rugby star Mike Tindall.

Prince William was absent as he volunteered to work at RAF Valley on Christmas Day.

The Duke of Edinburgh decided to walk the quarter-mile from Sandringham House to the church with Prince Harry, while the Queen arrived by car. After the service, she was presented with photographs and flowers by local schoolchildren.

The Queen chose sport as the theme for her televised Christmas Day message, describing how it can teach values such as honesty, respect and a sense of community.

She said: ‘Apart from developing physical fitness, sport and games can also teach vital social skills. None can be enjoyed without abiding by the rules, and no team can hope to succeed without co-operation between the players.

‘This sort of positive team spirit can benefit communities, companies and enterprises of all kinds.’

But there was no mention of the forthcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in the speech, which was filmed at Hampton Court Palace for the first time, rather than at Buckingham Palace.

'I feel like Becky again!' X Factor's Rebecca Ferguson gets back to normality as she goes Christmas shopping in Liverpool

By Sarah Bull

Shopping trip: X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson steps out in Liverpool yesterday to pick up some last-minute Christmas presents

She's had an action-packed few months, become a national sweetheart and coming second on The X Factor.

But, for the festive period at least, it's back to normality for Rebecca Ferguson, who was spotted doing some last-minute Christmas shopping in Liverpool yesterday.

The 24-year-old singer admitted she was looking forward to taking some time away
from the spotlight to spend Christmas with her children Lillie, six, and four-year-old Karl.

Military chic: Rebecca looked chic in a navy and red coat, black tights and cute black suede

She said: 'It’s so nice to be home for Christmas. I feel like Becky again. We’ve got our tree up. I just wanted to get a few more treats for the kids.

'They’re really excited. I’m looking forward to Christmas with my family and my babies in Liverpool.'

The singer looked stunning in a military-style red and navy blue coat, teamed with black tights and cute suede boots for her shopping trip, and was mobbed by fans as she got out of her taxi ready to hit the stores.

Singing star: Rebecca performing during the final of The X Factor

Rebecca, who won the nation over with her down-to-earth attitude during her time on The X Factor, also admitted she was finding it strange not being part of the reality show.

She added to the Liverpool Echo: 'I’m going to miss everyone, especially One Direction and Matt, but I’ll see them all on the X Factor tour next year.

'Doing The X Factor was very emotional. I first auditioned in March so it’s almost been a full year for me.

'I want to thank everyone that voted for me and supported me. I want to tell them I’m so happy. It’s not the end!'

Jesse McCartney struggles to pick out the perfect pair of designer heels... but Ashlee Simpson has no trouble Christmas shopping

By Daily Mail Reporter

Do I go with the wedges or the heels? Jesse McCartney is forced to make a phone call to enlist some female help as he shops for shoes for someone special at Barney's New York in Beverly Hills

When it came to the perfect Christmas present, it's clear Jesse McCartney knew just what he was looking for - a designer pair of beautifully made heels.

What the 22-year-old singer, songwriter and actor wasn't quite so clear about was the style to choose.

Surrounded by hordes of Christmas shoppers yesterday he found himself unable to choose between a pair of very high heels and some more sensible wedges.

In the end he was forced to make a very important phone call - perhaps to his mother - to help him decide on the perfect pair of footwear for his mystery recipient.

Jesse was just one of many celebrities who braved the Los Angeles crowds and joined the pre-Christmas shopping frenzy yesterday for some last minute present buying.

The cash registers of the city's top shops were ringing merrily as several stars headed over to the ritzy Barney's New York department store in Beverly Hills.

Shoes are always a must have for any girl, and it's no surprise that Emmy Rossum was all smiles as she checked out the store's latest designer offerings.

Dressed in tight black leather pants and a red and black harlequin patterened jacket, the 24-year-old actress and singer happily made her way among the throngs of shoppers.

Vanessa Hudgens, flying solo following her split from Zac Efron, appeared to be getting into the Christmas spirit.

The 22-year-old High School Musical star made her way through the store, picking up presents and chatting with a friend on her mobile phone.

All smiles: Vanessa Hudgens doesn't appear to be too unhappy despite having split from Zac Efron and Emmy Rossum is delighted to be among so many fabulous shoes at Barney's

Also at Barney's was the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am who seemed much more relaxed than Jesse had done in the upmarket store.

With a stylish grey satchel slung over his shoulder, the 35-year-old left Barney's laden down with several of the store's big black bags and headed out to his car listening to the latest tunes on his iPod.

As Will.I.Am headed out, Jared Leto headed in. The 38-year-old actor and musician appeared to be dressed for the European winter rather than a cold, Los Angeles day.

Leto's outfit matched the grey skyline as he rugged up in a grey jacket, grey scarf and fur-lined grey hat with ear flaps.

Following days of torrential rain in Los Angeles, many celebrities took advantage of a break in the weather and headed over to the family and kid-friendly outdoor shopping mall at The Grove in West Los Angeles.

Rob Benedict, the 40-year-old actor best known for his role in the TV series Felicity, was spotted at The Grove with his young son and daughter.

Another 40-year-old actor and screenwriter Thomas Lennon, pushed his young son Oliver in his stroller down the busy pathways, alongside a friend or family member dressed in a festive red jumper and Santa hat.

Merry Christmas to me! Ashlee Simpson goes clothes shopping on trendy Melrose Avenue

Actor and comedian Kevin Pollack, 53, was obviously shopping for a special little girl in his life as he walked out of the American Girl doll store with a very large bag.

Channing Tatum, 30, and his wife Jenna Dewan, 30, also made their way to The Grove and bought some presents at the Apple Mac store.

Tatum dressed down in ripped jeans, baggy blue hoodie and a grey cap. Dewan went for a more glamorous look in black tights, above the knee black suede boots and a Christmas green flowing cardigan.

Singer Brandy also visited The Grove in grey leggings and leopard print high heels to do some Christmas shopping.

Laurence Fishburn also made his way to The Grove, but it appeared that the 49-year-old actor didn't have the stamina to keep up with the younger set or the Christmas shopping frenzy.

He took some time out to relax on a nearby bench and make a phone call.

Time out: Laurence Fishburn takes a much needed break from his shopping spree at The Grove to check his messages

Shopping by the girls and for the girls: Kevin Pollak shops at the American Girl Place doll shop in The Grove for a special girl in his life, while Brandy does her own shopping at the outdoor mall

Over on Melrose Avenue, also in West Hollywood, Ashlee Simpson had no problem shopping with a vengeance.

Dressed in a pair of loose-fitting jeans and a warm winter coat. Ashlee wore flats so she could easily pop in and out of the designer clothing shops.

The 31-year-old singer quickly stocked up on bags of clothes for herself. Perhaps she's planning on picking up some presents for her husband Pete Wentz a little later?

Doing it for the kids: Rob Benedict headed to The Grove with his two young children and Thomas Lennon also took his family including his son Oliver to shop at the outdoor mall

Over in Santa Monica, Desperate Housewives actress Marcia Cross shopped leisurely and took advantage of the valet parking.

The 48-year-old actress has a husband and three-year-old twin daughters, Eden and Savannah to shop for.

Back in Beverly Hills, Ashley Olsen found time to get her hair and nails done in time for Christmas. The 24-year-old mini mogul then swapped her high heels for flip flops so she didn't ruin her perfect pedicure before heading out to do some quick Christmas shopping.

Call the tanning police! The only way is orange for Lauren Goodger on her Christmas bar crawl

By Daily Mail Reporter

In the party mood: The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger overdoes the fake tan of a night out in London

Her love of fake tanning has been well documented since she stripped off in the tanning booth in the first episode of The Only Way Is Essex.

But with so much experience in honing a faux glow, you'd think Lauren Goodger would have got the hang of it by now.

The Essex socialite, 24, went a bit heavy handed on the spray tan as she enjoyed a Christmas bar crawl around London last night.

Wearing a strapless red dress and black high heels, it looked like Goodger was hoping to show off her dark tan to full affect.

Goodger started the night off at Nu Bar in Loughton, Essex, before travelling into central London for drinks with some of her The Only Way Is Essex castmembers and crew at Bar Soho.

She finally emerged from Bar Soho on Old Compton Street at 1am before moving on to the Runway Club on New Oxford Street.

Mwah! Goodger appears to love the paparazzi attention as she walks from one bar to another

Having listed her favourite things as 'white wine, champagne, vodka, spending money, holidays and being photographed', it looked like she managed to score five out of six last night.

And in a clear signal she was over her ex-boyfriend Mark Wright, the reality TV star flirted up a storm with some young male companions.

Goodger and Wright, 23, ended their nine year on/off relationship in June, but their frequent arguments have become a regular feature in The Only Way Is Essex.

New friends Lauren was flirting up a storm with some young men at the bar

Although Wright is now dating fashion designer Lucy Mecklenburgh, viewers saw Goodger confess she was still sleeping with her ex in the series finale.

In an interview this week with Zoo magazine, Mecklenburgh, 19, admitted she hated Goodger.

She said: 'I hate her. There’s a scoop for you. Everything you saw [in the show] was completely genuine.

'I don’t think she’s a very nice person and I found her very intimidating.

Mark who?: Goodger greets another male admirer

'Maybe she’s just insecure. I think she’s like that because she knows I’m what Mark likes. I’m dark and slim, whereas she’s not dark and not, er…'

Also at last night's bar crawl was Wright's best friend, wedding singer James 'Arg' Argent and his girlfriend Lydia Bright.

Fans of the show saw long-term lovers Arg and Lydia reunite in episode eight after splitting over the summer.
