Kim Kardashian plays dead in a coffin as stars leave the web until $1m is raised for charity

By Daily Mail Reporter

Fundraiser: Kim Kardashian poses dead in a coffin as she promotes the Digital Life Sacrifice, organised by Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive charity for World AIDS Day

Lying on her back in a coffin, Kim Kardashian plays dead in a new advert.

The reality star is promoting an internet campaign in which stars including Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher will quit social networking sites to raise money for charity.

In an unusual initiative, a host of celebrities will log off and not sign back in until $1 million (£640,000) has been raised.

The Digital Life Sacrifice is being organised by Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive charity for World AIDS Day on Tuesday.

Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams and Swizz Beatz are
also taking part.

They have filmed 'last tweet and testament' videos which will appear in ads showing them in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.

Lady Gaga has more than seven million Twitter followers - while 3.5 million have signed up for Justin Timberlake's tweets.

World AIDS day, held December 1, is about raising awareness about AIDS caused by the spread of the HIV infection.

AIDS had killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007, latest figures have revealed.

Lady Gaga: Has Seven million followers on Twitter

Alica Keys is the first global ambassador the the Keep A Child Alive charity.

She said today that no celebrity had turned down her request to take part.

'Once I got people on the phone and I was able to paint the concept for them, everybody was in,' she said.

Leigh Blake, who is president and co-founder of the charity, said: 'We're trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?'

Keys married rapper-producer Swizz Beatz in July.

Strictly Come Dancing 2010: Patsy Kensit has her last dance as she gets the boot

By Daily Mail Reporter

-Rugby star Gavin Henson narrowly avoided the chop after coming in bottom two

Goodbye from me: Patsy Kensit says her farewells to her Strictly castmates after becoming the latest star to get the boot from the dancing show

Actress Patsy Kensit has become the latest celebrity to be booted from the Strictly dance floor, following a tango that fell flat.

Her performance received a mixed review from the judging panel, with Bruno Tonioli complaining that it 'lacked spunk'.

And the viewing public seemed to agree. After all the votes were in, the Absolute Beginners star found herself in last place.

Kensit took her exit from the Strictly Come Dancing in good spirits.

'You know what, I've had the most incredible time,' she said, adding: 'Firstly I have to thank all those who voted because it's been nine weeks, which was incredible.

'It's been the most beautiful experience.'

Her departure means that the Ann Widdecombe survived yet again, despite another barrage of criticism from the judges.

She attempted to impress them with a Titanic themed rumba.

But after cutting a rug to Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, her performance was panned.

Last dance: The actress received mixed reviews for her performance on Saturday night, but took the exit in good spirits saying she had had an 'incredible time' on the show

'The iceberg showed more passion,' was typical of the opprobrium heaped on the former parliamentarian.

The comment, by Widdecombe's tormentor-in-chief Craig Revel Horwood, was followed by a simple: 'It was awful.'

Fellow judges tended to agree. 'I'm like a James Bond Martini - I'm shaken, not stirred,' Len Goodman quipped.

It was left to Alesha Dixon to offer the only encouragement to the former MP for Maidstone and Weald. 'Kate Winslet eat your heart out,' the singer yelled as Widdecombe composed herself after the rumba.

Moment of truth: Patsy seen here with dance partner Robin Windsor and, right Gavin Henson who was also in the bottom two with his partner Katya Virshilas

She is not the only one at risk of elimination next week unless her performance picks up.

Rugby star Gavin Henson narrowly avoided the chop, coming second bottom to Patsy Kensit, when the judges scores and viewers votes were combined.

The Welsh centre failed to impress with his dance to Outkast's Hey Ya.
'I really think you are giving Ann Widdecombe a run for her money,' Revel Horwood said.

Not all of the dancing stars were subjected to criticism in yesterday's show.
Psychologist Pamela Stephenson topped the leaderboard.

Failing to impress: Patsy on Saturday night's Strictly performing with Robin

Her cheeky Charleston gained top marks from two judges and 'nines' from the others.

Goodman said of the performance: 'I have got to say that tickled my fancy. I enjoyed it, you enjoyed it, we all enjoyed it.'

Also singled out for praise was Kara Tointon. The soap star got the night's second highest marks after dancing an impressive jive.

Flamboyant judge Bruno Tonioli gushed: 'Kara von Tease, the sexy jiving pin-up. I love the fact that you put sex appeal into it.'

Goodman added: 'It was a top drawer jive. It steamed up my glasses.'

Caught out: Jennifer Metcalfe pulled over by police looking less than glamorous

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Her on screen character Mercedes is no stranger to run-ins with police.

But Jennifer Metcalfe found herself pulled over by the boys in blue for real yesterday.

The 27-year-old Hollyoaks actress was driving her white Audi around Liverpool when she was told to stop at the side of the road.

Brush with the law: Jennifer Metcalfe is pulled over by police in Liverpool

After a brief conversation with police, the soap star was sent on her way, but not before she had caught the attention of passers by on the busy street.

As the brunette got back into her car to drive away, plenty of people had taken time out from their Christmas shopping to have a nosy, but the star looked almost unrecognisable in her scruffy outfit and no makeup.

Dressed down in a brown baggy jacket, jeans and Ugg boots, with her hair scraped back into a bun, Jennifer was probably not relishing the attention.

Caught out: Jennifer is snapped heading for home looking less than glamorous without makeup with her hair scraped back in a baggy jacket and jeans

She is usually snapped looking red carpet ready and viewers will be more familiar seeing Jennifer as her on screen persona, slap-loving Mercedes McQueen Fisher.

Playing Chester's resident tart, Jennifer's work uniform consists of a full face of makeup, super-tight clothing and tacky jewellery.

The soap stunner is also no stranger to flaunting her figure, despite having trouble with her weight.

In July this year she made headlines after spending £2,000 on liposuction in a bid to beat the flab.

Removing excess fat from her thighs and bottom the Channel 4 soap star dropped to a tiny size six.

Jennifer is rumoured to be taking part in the Dancing on Ice 2011 tour, but the celebrity line-up has yet to be confirmed.

The soap siren was set to star in last year's ice skating show but pulled out.

Will drug claims see Wagner's X Factor dream go up in smoke? Hopeful 'scores cannabis inside show's studios'

By Daily Mail Reporter

On a high: Wagner, seen here performing on last night's X Factor, is alleged to have scored cannabis inside the X Factor's London studios recently

X Factor contestant Wagner Carrilho allegedly carried out a drug deal inside the X Factor studios.

The Brazilian contestant bought cannabis from a dealer recently following the live Sunday results show, it is claimed.

The 54-year-old former contestant is said to have been buying a steady supply of the mind-bending drug over the past few months, the Sunday Mirror claims.

Wagner, who is also being investigated over incapacity benefits, apparently scored the drugs in week three of the live show.

Wagner, who is also being investigated over incapacity benefits, apparently scored the drugs in week three of the live show.

He arranged for his supplier - who has not been named by the newspaper - to get backstage access at Fountain Studios by giving him and friends and family pass.

The unnamed deal told the Sunday Mirror: 'The first time I met Wagner I had one of my friends with me and he had been smoking earlier on in the day.

'He asked me if I could get him any. He said he was getting really stressed out by the show and cannabis helped him relax.'

Fancy footwork: The Brazilian contestant bought the drugs following a Sunday result show, it has been claimed

The dealer claims he sold Wagner £10-worth of cannabis in a side room at the X Factor studios in north-west London.

The newspaper also claims the karate expert bought more weed on a least five separate occasions after meeting in the bar of the Premier Inn in Elstree, Herts.

When quizzed on the drug, Wagner apparently said: 'A lot of geniuses like Bob Marley and Paul McCartney smoked cannabis.'

Last night fans of the hit show saw Wagner perform two songs for rock week.
He opened the show with the Radiohead track Creep, before following it up with Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer later on in the programme.

The latest revelations come after it emerged he is being investigated by the authorities over incapacity benefits.

Always in the headlines: The hopeful is also being investigated by authorities over incapacity benefit claims

The long-haired Brazilian told producers of the ITV programme he was receiving the payments before he signed up.

A Department for Work and Pensions spokeswoman said today: 'We do not discuss individuals but we do reassess people regularly.

'Anyone who claims can be called in for an assessment if we feel circumstances have changed.'

A source said it was likely that the controversial singer's claim would be looked at again in light of his on-stage antics.

But a spokeswoman for the programme said Carrilho had declared everything and had done nothing wrong.

She said: 'Wagner declared to us that he was receiving benefits before he joined the show.

'We advised him to contact the benefits office regarding his taking part in X Factor, which he did. He was deemed physically fit to take part in the show.'

X Factor judge Simon Cowell has described the former PE teacher's act as 'the most bonkers ... I've seen in my life'.

Fellow judge Louis Walsh said of him: 'He may not be the best singer, but he is the most entertaining.'

Meanwhile, Wagner has been claiming that he's being ganged up on and bullied out of the show by contestants, the show's production team and even by the judges .

He even bizarrely told a friend that mentor Louis is out to get him.

Vanessa Stocks told the News of The World: 'It is clear he's being bullied out of the show. They're making his life an absolute hell.

'It seems Wagner has served his purpose and got their ratings up and now they want rid of him.'

Wagner begged me to marry his cousin

By Lara Gould and Sharon Churcher

He’s the man X Factor fans either love or hate.

On screen Wagner Carrilho is happy to play the fool – sending himself up with so-bad-they’re-good performances surrounded by scantily-clad young dancers.

But behind the rhinestone costumes straining to contain his expanding middle-aged spread, there lies a playboy past.

Amazingly, it is a past that even includes a failed attempt by the 54-year-old former double-glazing salesman to marry his own cousin.

Whirlwind romanc: Katia Fiuza Lima (left) who dated her first cousin Wagner - whose real name is Wagner Lima Fiuza-Carillho - with her mother Iolanda Fiuza Lima

In 1979 Wagner began a whirlwind romance with stunning ballerina Katia Fiuza Lima – a talented young dancer in his native Brazil – and fell ‘head over heels in love’ with her.

Katia had just turned 20 when, with the blessing of her father – a lawyer in the capital Brasilia – she moved to Rio de Janeiro to study ballet.

‘Wagner lived there with his family and he offered to be her escort and show her the sights,’ Katia’s brother, Alexi Lima, a distinguished pianist based in the US, told The Mail on Sunday.

‘Katia was very good-looking and he became infatuated with her and I think for a time she was infatuated with him too.

‘He was a very popular guy in Rio, handsome and charismatic. His life revolved around having a good time on the beach and in the clubs.

‘But when he started to date Katia, there was a feeling that it couldn’t last. In Brazil, just as in England, there is a certain taboo about dating your first cousin.’

After courting Katia for just two months, during which he took the naive girl from the Brazilian provinces to a Frank Sinatra concert as well as his favourite topless beaches, social worker Carole Davies in 1997.

In an interview from Brasilia, where she now works as choreographer and ballet teacher, Katia said he was ‘determined’ to win her hand.

She said: ‘I told him ours was a summer romance and I tried to dissuade him. I told him I was too young, that I had my whole life in front of me, but when Wagner wants something, he relentlessly does everything he can to get it.

‘He’s very macho and even in those days, when he was only 24, he ordered women around. But I told him I was breaking off our romance and I never spoke to him again.

‘I was very surprised when I saw him on X Factor, doing his crazy dance steps.’

Flashy: Wagner is often surrounded by young dancers during his routines on the X Factor

Those crazy dance steps, however, have helped propel Wagner – real name Wagner Lima Fiuza-Carrilho – to national fame.

The controversial finalist is now on course to derail the entire series after bookmakers slashed the odds on him winning from 100-1 to 10-1.

But he is apparently about to be hit with a costly divorce from his second wife – from whom he split before he found fame. Wagner wed social worker Carole Davies in 1997.

But the marriage collapsed ten years later when Carole, now 61, found he had fathered a child with another woman – Jenny Yawari, 36.

Anthony Nichols, who has lived next door to Carole for 15 years, said: ‘Carole told me she is going to wait for the show to end and then get a divorce. She thinks he will have a lot of money when X Factor is over.’

Last night, music industry expert Jonathan Shalit, who masterminded Charlotte Church’s rise to fame, predicted that Wagner would make a minimum of £500,0000 from X Factor.

He said: ‘There will be a one-off novelty record but the big money will come from personal appearances – at £10,000 a time.’

Big money: Music industry mogul Jonathan Shallit reckons that Wagner will earn at least £500,000 off the back of the show

Last night, Wagner received rare praise when he sang Radiohead’s Creep in a rock-themed edition of the show.

Dannii Minogue said: 'That's the best you've sung - you connected with the lyrics.'
Even Simon Cowell was impressed, saying: 'For you, that was very good.'

Wagner also performed Robert Palmer’s Addicted To Love.

Katie Waissel gave a spine-tingling performance of R.E.M's Everybody Hurts, and Cowell said: 'This is when you're at your best, when you're on the ropes'.

Cher Lloyd picked Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend and Aerosmith’s Walk This Way.

Rebecca Ferguson sang U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For and the Rolling Stones’ Satisfaction while Matt Cardle performed Joan Jett’s I Love Rock ’N’ Roll and the Moody Blues’ Nights In White Satin.

Strictly Come Dancing: Widdy takes to the waves as she thrills crowd with Titanic-themed routine

By Natalie Wain

Eat your heart out Kate: Anne Widdecombe turned out yet another hilarious performance as she attempted a Titanic-themed rhumba on last night's Strictly Come Dancing

'There are three types of people left in this competition - the good the bad and the Widdy', declared a confident Anne Widdecombe at start of last night's Strictly Come Dancing.

And after being likened to a yellow canary, all eyes were on this year's underdog to see how on earth she could top last week's toe-curling performance.

The outfit may have been toned down and there were definitely no feathers, but Widdy thrilled the Striclty audience as she and dance partner Anton Du Beke channeled Kate Winslet and Leonado Dicaprio in the film Titanic with their rendition of a raunchy rhumba.

In what could loosely be described as her her most 'passionate' performance to date, the usually reserved Anne even locked Anton in a romantic embrace, planting her hands firmly on his chest, drawing cheers and laughter form the delighted audience.

Although she remained largely wooden and immobile throughout most of her routine,
Anne threw caution to the wind for the dance finale as she and Anton collapsed in a heap on the floor, locked in a passionate embrace.

Look familiar? Anne Widdecombe would be the first to admit that she's no Kate Winslet but she did her best to re-create the romantic scene from Titanic with dance partner Anton Du Beke

Emotionally charged? Well almost. Anne 'Widdy' Widdecombe evokes the romantic scene from Titanic where Kate Winslet and Leonado Dicaprio's characters share a tender moment

The judges were less than moved by their watery-themed efforts though.

A stony-faced Craig said her performance was passionless and said: 'that iceberg showed more emotion'.

It was 'a testament to bad dancing', he added before awarding her a measly 1 point.

Passionate: Usually reserved Widdy got to grips with dance partner Anton as they tried to evoke the romance of Titanic

Len was equally uncomplimentary, declaring that he was 'shaken not stirred' by their routine.

'Eat your heart out Kate', said a more generous Alesha Dixon, before adding cheekily: 'I could really see genuine love between you'.

But the plucky politician still managed a respectable 14 points, beating her cringe-worthy performance from last week.

Embrace: Anne and Anton were largely derided by the judges for their performance, but the audience were delighted by their efforts and they still managed to beat last week's score with a respectable 14 points (for Widdy anyway)

Meanwhile, the other contestants continued to soar ahead of Anne in the points stakes - she's currently languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard.

First up this week was EastEnders star Kara Tointon who danced an energetic version of the jive with her partner Artem Chigvinstsev, who guided Kara to a healthy score of 34, despite recovering from tonsillitis.

Energetic: The judges were impressed by Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvinstsev jive which earned them 30 points

An enthusiastic Bruno told her that she lit up the room, and called her 'Kara Von Teese'.

Judge Craig praised their precise attention to detail but drew boos from the audience when declared that the routine was 'haphazard', before awarding them 7 points.

Last week's survivor Patsy Kensit and her dance partner Robin Windsor were next, performing a smoldering Argentine tango.

Patsy danced through a foot injury but the pair were criticised by Bruno for their lack of 'spunk', whilst Craig told her they 'lacked flair and attacked'. 'But it did have intent and purpose and I think you that danced very well' he conceded. They scored 30 points.

Surviving: Patsy Kensit smoldered with dance partner Robin Windsor during their Argentine tango. They scored a healthy 30 points

Exhausted Eastenders star Scott Maslen got off to a rocky start with the American smooth making errors with his fancy footwork. He and dance partner Natalie Lowe still managed to score 31 points after recovering well.

'You're a class act', Len told him, 'but you didn't do yourself justice tonight'.

Smooth operator: Scott Maslen and partner Natalie Lowe recovered well from a rocky start and were awarded 31 points by the judges

Shake it: Jude Craig was unimpressed by Gavin Henson's bottom wiggle during his routine with partner Katya Virshilas and scored a disappointing 22 points

Next it was Gavin Henson's turn who danced the jive with his partner Katya Virshilas. It was a largely wooden performance which saw Gavin approach the judges to wiggle his bottom at them in his very tight tartan trousers at one stage during the routine.

Unimpressed, Craig told him: 'That bottom wiggle was completely unneccesary. It smacks of desperation and I think you're giving Anne Widdecombe a run for her money.'

The tanned rugby star only managed 22 points out of a possible 40.

In a spin: Intense: Popular couple Matt Baker and partner Aliona Vilani dazzled with their emotionally charged rendition of the American smooth but it was Pamela Stephenson and partner James Jordan who stole the show with an age-defying acrobatic routine that earned them 38 points, the highest score of the night

Matt Baker and partner Aliona Vilani dazzled with an emotionally charged American smooth. The chemistry between the two was palpable and they pulled-off a number of flamboyant moves with apparent ease earning them a standing ovation from the delighted audience.

Alesha was booed when she said that she found the pair disappointing.

Len agreed, telling him: 'Normally you're really good, tonight you were nearly good...there was just something missing tonight.'

But the best performance of the night was definitely saved till last when Pamela Stephenson defied her 60 years of age to give an acrobatic performance that wowed the judges and the crowd alike.

She performed a very cheeky charleston with partner James Jordan, incorporating cartwheels and even the splits into their energetic routine which won them universal praise from the judges.

Energetic: Pamela Stephenson won praise from the judges for her age-degying routine which delighted the audience. Pamela will celebrate her 61st birthday next week

Even Craig was excited by their performance, telling them: 'It was risky, perilous lifts, performed without any trepidation, I loved it.'

Alesha agreed: 'It was the best dance of the night' she said.

The pair were rewarded with incredible 38 points - the highest score of the night.

It remains to be seen if Widdy will be saved again. The results show will be shown later on Sunday night.
