Oscar Fashion 2009

Oscar Fashion 2009

So who was the best/worst dressed at the 2009 Academy Awards ceremony? We have a full Oscar fashion gallery so tell us your thoughts and opinons! More after the bump!

One hot trend of Sunday’s Oscars were lots of whites and neutrals. And of course the basic black is always a mainstay.

A huge fashion statement seemed to include bold jewelry, long trains, and hair pulled back into elegant bun-styles.

The Best Actress winner for “The Reader”, Kate Winslet, wore a one-shoulder with a dress by Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati of gray satin and black tulle.

Angelina Jolie wore a stunning black sweetheart-neck strapless gown with gorgeous contrasting green drop earrings. And of course Brad Pitt makes a beautiful accessory as well!

Taraji P. Henson sported a large 19th-century diamond flower necklace from Fred Leighton with a Roberto Cavalli cream-colored strapless dress with tiers of uneven fabric and a train.

Best Supporting Actress nominee for “The Wrestler,” Marissa Tomei wore a one-shoulder Versace frock with a gorgeous train.

Heidi Klum wore a vibrant red Roland Mouret gown with a high sexy slit, accompanied by her husband Seal.

Amy Adams wore a Carolina Herrera red bustier dress with black spider web-piping and a thick, bold Leighton necklace. Although in our opinion, the crimson dress seemed to compete with her red hair.

Penélope Cruz went with a gorgeous vintage gown in a white, 60-year-old couture Balmain gown that was ruched and embellished with sparkles.

The always elegant Anne Hathaway wore a strapless champagne-colored Armani Prive gown covered in crystals and circular pailettes with a jeweled dragon brooch on the back.

Mickey Rourke wore a Jean Paul Gaultier suit with a vest and without a tie. Ro urke also wore a photo pendant of his recently deceased Chihuahua.

Oscar Fashions 2009 - Oscars Academy Awards Best And Worst Dressed

It was a battle at the Oscars Academy Awards but one thing was clear - the minimalist approach to jewelry this year: the most elegant women wore one statement-making piece or, as in Beyonce's case, no jewelry at all.

Oscars 2009

Oscar 2009 Live !!!

After last year’s Oscars delivered their worst TV ratings ever, producers this time say they aim to liven up the show with some surprises and new ways of presenting awards.

While some details have surfaced in the past week (the major stars could be Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Kate Winslet, turned down the chance to present awards) presenters names are being kept top secret. Some stars will sneak backstage, not enter on the red carpet.

Their efforts were complicated by the fact that this year’s main Oscar contenders, led by the British-made “Slumdog Millionaire” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” starring Brad Pitt, are hardly the big box office blockbusters that tend to pull in viewers.

The host is Hugh Jackman, who has hosted Broadway’s Tony Awards three times, to emcee the Oscars for the first time.

“If I hadn’t done the Tonys, I think I’d be a lot more nervous than I am,” Jackman said.

A major criticism of the ceremony is that, at three and a half hours, it drags on too long. Jackman admitted that he hoped it could be cut shorter. But winning speeches are limited to 45 seconds!

The ceremony airing live on ABC, features a mix of fresh faces and old Oscar hands in the acting categories. Two-time winner Meryl Streep extended her record to 15 nominations, this time for best actress in “Doubt,” while other past Oscar recipients and nominees include Sean Penn (best actor for “Milk”), Kate Winslet (best actress for “The Reader”), Robert Downey Jr. (supporting actor for “Tropic Thunder”) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (supporting actor for “Doubt.”)

Newcomers include a rush of veteran performers, among them best-actress contenders Anne Hathaway (”Rachel Getting Married”) and Melissa Leo (”Frozen River”) and best-actor candidates Mickey Rourke (”The Wrestler”), Frank Langella (”Frost/Nixon”) and Richard Jenkins (”The Visitor”).

“The Dark Knight” co-star Heath Ledger, who died on Oscar nominations day last year, is considered as strong a lock to win “Slumdog Millionaire” supporting actor.

Past winner Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, both are nominated. She’s up for best actress in “Changeling” and he’s competing for best actor in “Benjamin Button,” which leads with 13 nominations, followed by “Slumdog” with 10.

Oscar Picks

Actor In A Leading Role:
This will obvs come down to Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke. Was Mickey Rourke acting, though? He was as down and out in real life as his character was in the Wrestler. Sean Penn on the other hand in Milk - you can tell he was the kielbasa king in preparing for his role. Pick:

Sean Penn - Milk

Actor In A Supporting Role:
I already forget who Heath Ledger’s competition is for this award. His biggest competition will be from Philip Seymour Hoffman, but I think Hollywood & the Academy are looking for press… pick:

From what I hear, you forget how annoying Kate Winslet is in real life, when you see her performance in The Reader. Pick:

Rihanna Photos leaked

Rihanna Police Report Photos Leaked!

At about 7 p.m. on February 19, 2009, the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section began receiving numerous inquiries about the release of a photograph associated with a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2009, involving entertainer Chris Brown.

The photograph appeared on an entertainment website. The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence.

The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.

Anyone with information concerning the unauthorized release of the photograph is asked to call, during regular business hours, (213) 485-4152. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to our 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.” Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Police Investigating Rihanna Photo Leak

Los Angeles police have opened an internal investigation into who illicitly leaked a close-up photograph of Rihanna's brutalized face purportedly taken after her Feb. 8 altercation with Chris Brown.

"The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence," the LAPD said in a statement Thursday. The department has yet to publicly identify Rihanna as the alleged victim in Brown's case.

On Friday, the L.A. police officers union offered its approval of the LAPD's response to the leak.

"We applaud the Los Angeles Police Department for quickly opening an internal investigation into whether a picture posted on TMZ.com is an actual evidence photo," read a statement issued by Paul M. Weber, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League.

"As in the case of the privacy breach earlier this month where confidential personnel information of 248 officers was disclosed by the LAPD, the LAPPL strongly supports an expansive review of security procedures within the Department. We fully support letting the investigation take its natural course."

The identitiy of any officers accused of wrongdoing should also be kept confidential, Weber added.

A law-enforcement source close to the Brown investigation tells E! News the leaked photo was one taken by a detective when officers first arrived at the Hancock Park scene of the alleged attack.

"There was another set taken at the hospital, where the swelling is even worse," the source said.

Per the source, the fight began when Rihanna intercepted an incoming text message to Brown's cell phone from another woman. She later told police this wasn't the first time Brown had been physically abusive.

But this time, the source said, "she may have thrown the first punch."

The insider also tells us that, within 48 hours of Brown's arrest, "a tabloid" offered "over 100 grand" for a police photo of Rihanna.

"Internal Affairs is up in their butts over the leaks," the source said, adding that, even earlier today, LAPD staffers were being warned about leaking info. "They're threatening to administer polygraphs."

The D.A.'s office, which is trying to pin a felony charge on Brown, is still mulling over the best avenue to take if it opts to prosecute.

The consensus among police is that the D.A. will only file charges for crimes for which they have "solid" evidence.

Danica Patrick Tattoo

Danica Patrick Tattoo Photos Picture of her tattoos

Danica Sue Patrick (born March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin) is an American auto racing driver, currently competing in the IndyCar Series. She was raised in Roscoe, Illinois. Danica Patrick was named the Rookie of the Year for both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series season. In May 2006, she published her autobiography, Danica: Crossing the Line. With her win in the 2008 Indy Japan 300, Danica Patrick became the first woman to win an Indy car race. She also has an equity stake in her #7 team.

Danica Patrick began go-karting in 1992 at the age of 10,[2] and went on to win several World Karting Association championships. She moved to England at the age of 16 in order to advance her racing career. Danica Patrick raced in Formula Ford and Formula Vauxhall, earning a second-place finish in Britain's Formula Ford Festival, the highest finish by a woman in the event.

In 2002, Danica Patrick started driving for Bobby Rahal in the United States. After making several starts in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, she moved to the Toyota Atlantic Championship for 2003. Driving for Rahal Letterman Racing, Patrick won one pole and was a consistent podium finisher (top three); however, she never won a race. In 2004, Patrick finished third in the Championship.

Danica Patrick Tattoo Sports Illustrated Photos Changed

Danica Patrick didn’t quite bare all in her most recent Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. While there was an abundance of skin on display, there was one thing that didn’t show up; a tattoo on the small of Danica Patrick’s back. The tattoo was of all things—an American flag.
Officials for Sports Illustrated acknowledged digitally removing Danica Patrick tattoo.

DanicaPatrick’s handlers said she was aware of the touch up before the photos were published and was fine with the adjustments. This is Patrick’s second consecutive year in the SI swimsuit issue. TheDanica Patrick tattoo was visible in last year’s SI photos, one of which is shown here. SI officials offered no explanation for the decision to remove the stars-and-stripes on Patrick’s back this year.

This isn’t the first time an athlete has had a tattoo removed in a photo. A decade ago, a photo editor controversially digitally removed a neck tattoo and earrings from a cover photo of basketball player Allen Iverson. And photos have been air brushed long before modern computers made it as easy as punching a button. But is the removal of an American flag tattoo on danica Patrick’s back OK with you?

Bristol Palin - on Teen Parenting

Bristol Palin on Teen Parenting

Bristol Palin, Gov. Sarah Palin’s 18-year-old daughter, sat for her first interview since giving birth to Tripp, which aired Monday on Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

News of the unmarried high school student’s pregnancy emerged within days of her mother’s introduction as Senator John McCain’s running mate in August. In addition to being a mother, Ms. Palin appears to be embracing a potential role as an advocate against teen pregnancy, saying that abstinence is “not realistic.”

Ms. Palin, who said she was “exhausted,” at moments seemed to have a poise and world-weariness that belied her age. But there were still flashes of a defiant teenager.

She said she had been particularly irritated by media rumors that her mother, a social conservative, had forced her to have the baby.

“It doesn’t matter what my mom’s views are on it,” she said. “It was my decision, and I wish people would realize that, too.”

Though she declined to elaborate, Ms. Palin’s views on abstinence appear to differ from those her mother, a proponent of abstinence-until-marriage education, would like to see espoused.

“Everyone should be abstinent, but it’s just not realistic at all,” she said, adding that among people her age, “it’s more and more accepted now.” But though she said she hoped her story would help change that acceptance, she did not advocate the use of contraception or go into greater detail as to how to prevent teen pregnancy.

When Ms. Van Susteren asked if she knew how to take care of a baby, Ms. Palin responded, “Yeah,” with a note of irritation. She added, “Because I’ve been babysitting my whole life. So it’s not just the baby part of it that’s hard, it’s just realizing that I’m not living for myself anymore; I’m living for another human being.”

Ms. Palin said she felt “blessed” to have a large extended family to help her take care of Tripp, born Dec. 27. During a brief appearance, Governor Palin added: “I don’t know how other families do it if they assume that the young parent will make it on their own, or if they assume that the government is going to take care of the young parent and that child. That’s not government’s role.”

Bristol Palin: Media Maven with a Message

In a stroke of media mastery, Bristol Palin harnessed the Palin-family-doting Fox News last night to announce a powerful (and decidedly non-Fox News) message for policy makers: abstinence only is "not realistic." The new teen mom also told Great Van Susteren that she would "love to be an advocate to prevent teen pregnancy." Making this announcement on one of the most watched, and most conservative, news stations in the nation is already a pretty good display of her ability to reach a large swath of Americans (particularly the most difficult to reach on this issue.)

As we all remember, Bristol and her unplanned pregnancy dominated the national news for a month during the Presidential campaign. Yet this is really the first time we've heard from Bristol herself. It appears she is striking out on her own.

In fact, she told her mother about the interview, and her plans to discuss teen pregnancy prevention during it, just the day before. Some have spun this story as Bristol Palin attacking her mother's abstinence-only policies. She clearly is not, but she is finding her own voice.

What the interview reveals is that Bristol Palin is lovely, humble, honest, no doubt still a teenager and refreshingly free of any political agenda--except to use her experience to steer teens away from the same fate.

In startling candidness, Bristol Palin expresses the conflicting emotions that come packaged with teen parenthood; her love for her child and of motherhood and her belief that waiting ten years before becoming a parent would have been a better path.

She explained,

"I like being a mom, I love it. Just seeing him smile and stuff, it's awesome...It is very challenging but it's so rewarding...Of course, I wish it would happen in ten years so I could have a job and an education and be, like, prepared and have my own house and stuff... I just hope that people learn from my story and, I don't know, prevent teen pregnancy I guess... It's not just the baby part of it that's hard, it's that I'm not living for myself anymore I'm living for another human being...I'd like to be an advocate to prevent teen pregnancy because its not a situation you strive for I guess...Kids should just wait--it's not glamorous at all."

Alex Rodriguez Ppress Conference

Alex Rodriguez Press Conference: Steroid Use Discussed

Alex Rodriguez offered new details Tuesday about his performance-enhancing drug use, saying his cousin injected him with an over-the-counter substance to gain an energy boost.

The New York Yankees star said using the banned drug that he said he obtained from the Dominican Republic was a "stupid mistake."

"I knew we weren't taking Tic Tacs," said Rodriguez, who was joined at the head table with Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi.

The three-time AL MVP and baseball's highest-paid player met the media 10 days after Sports Illustrated reported that he tested positive in 2003.

Rodriguez started his news conference by reading from a prepared statement. At the end, he paused for 37 seconds -- a dramatic break in which he looked side to side, blinked several times and took a sip of water -- then finally turned to his teammates and said "thank you."

Sitting in the front row were Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada. Jeter, with his arms crossed, and the other three stared right back at Rodriguez as he apologized directly to them.

In an interview with ESPN last week, Rodriguez admitted to using banned drugs from 2001 to 2003 while playing for the Texas Rangers. He insisted then and again Tuesday that he has not used banned drugs since.

Alex Rodriguez Press Conference

After watching the Alex Rodriguez press conference at the New York Yankees spring facility, we learned a few things such as how he got the performance-enhancing drugs and who he did them with. But that’s really it.

To me there’s still too many questions that are left unanswered.

Here’s his statement that he read. The questions from the media will be following shortly.

Chris Brown, Rihanna and the image problem

Until someone dialed 911 on Feb. 8 to report a disturbance in Hancock Park, the pop star Rihanna and her R&B-singer boyfriend, Chris Brown, enjoyed relatively wholesome reputations. Attractive and talented, the couple were known as sexy but not overs*xed, fun-loving but not reckless. The two seemed unlikely to be involved in anything more shocking than an all-night dance party.

That image opened the door to a host of commercial endorsements. Chris Brown appeared in ads for Doublemint gum and milk while Rihanna hawked more than a dozen products, including Nike sportswear, Totes umbrellas, Venus razors and Fuze beverages.

But then came the ugly scene that left Rihanna bleeding and bruised, Chris Brown in police custody and the picture of them as hip, uncomplicated lovers in tatters.

"Good boy, good girl. It's something we'd never expect," said Emmanuel "E-Man" Coquia, assistant program director at Power 106, a radio station that plays both entertainers' hits. "The music that they sing -- they don't talk about this stuff, they talk about other things, about having fun."

The consequences to Chris Brown, 19, and Rihanna, 20, are extensive. She must deal with physical and emotional wounds; he must deal with a criminal case and potential time behind bars. A week after the incident, Chris Brown released his first public statement, which emphasized that blog and media reports that claimed to have received any previous statement from him about the incident were false.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," wrote Chris Brown. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."

But beyond the courtroom and the hospital, both performers have millions of dollars at stake in terms of possible damage to product endorsement predicated on reputations that no longer exist, branding experts say.

"Whether or not it is true is sort of beside the point," said Matt Delzell, who has worked with Rihanna as a group account director at Davie Brown Talent, a Dallas company that advises companies on celebrity endorsers.

"If people perceive that these two very successful, young, wealthy individuals turn out to be irresponsible . . . then it's absolutely going to hurt them," said Delzell.

Chris Brown has already experienced the fallout. A day after his arrest, the makers of Doublemint gum shelved ads featuring him singing a new jingle. The group behind the milk ad -- which showed Chris Brown dancing while wearing a milk mustache -- issued a statement saying they were taking the allegations against Chris Brown "very seriously" and noting that the campaign was already scheduled to end last week.

A spokeswoman for Rihanna's highest-profile endorsement, CoverGirl cosmetics, said ads featuring Rihanna are still running nationally but declined to discuss whether her status as an alleged victim of domestic violence would affect the future of the campaign.

Jay-Z Offers Support for Rihanna, Doesn't 'Want to Go Into It'

Music mogul Jay-Z had nothing, but words of support for his protege Rihanna when he talked to People during his appearance at the "Sprite Green presents the Third Annual Two Kings dinner with Jay-Z and LeBron James" in Phoenix on Saturday, February 14. "This is a real situation," so he commented about Rihanna becoming the victim of alleged attack by her boyfriend Chris Brown.

"You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that," the hip-hop singer continued saying during the event, held as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend. "I just think we should all support her. She's going through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."

Asked if he has seen Rihanna after reports of her alleged altercation with Chris Brown made their way all over the web, Jay-Z simply stated, "I don't want to go into it."

Last week report emerged, claiming Jay-Z was mad after hearing news that Rihanna was beaten by Chris Brown during a heated argument. "He hit the roof" when he first found out about it, a source close to Jay-Z has been cited as saying.

Meanwhile, Rihanna herself has not yet spoken up about what is really going on between her and Chris Brown. She offers no single word to their blow-up and, as confirmed by her father, she has been spending time with her girl friends.
